A city that has produced gospel, soul, conscious rap, genre bending artistry and everything in between. But somewhere along the way the outside world started putting Chicago music in a box. Trap beats. Footwork instrumentals. A narrow version of a city that has always been so much bigger than any single sound.
LukeSky saw it happening and decided to do something about it.
He started his journey as a ghost writer, working behind the scenes and sharpening his pen while studying the craft from the inside out. But as he moved through Chicago's music scene he could not ignore what was happening around him. The city that gave the world some of the most diverse and influential music in history was being reduced to a genre. A category. A box that did not come close to holding everything Chicago actually is.
That observation became the mission. And LukeSky has been building toward it ever since.
Five years of developing something real
LukeSky has been doing music for five to six years. Not rushing. Not chasing whatever was popping at the moment. Slowly and deliberately developing a sound that could hold the weight of what he was trying to say.
That kind of patience is rare and it shows in the music. Every year of development added something. Every ghost writing session sharpened his ability to craft a song that connects. Every hour spent studying the artists who came before him gave him a deeper understanding of what made Chicago's music great in the first place.
He was not just learning how to make music. He was learning what music could be when it was made with real intention behind it.
Paying homage while pushing forward

He is currently working with Featureform Studio to bring his concepts to life, a collaboration that speaks to how seriously he takes the production and creative side of what he puts out.
The details are being kept close right now but the direction is clear. Bigger sound. Bigger vision. A project that continues the mission of pushing past the box and showing what Chicago music can sound like when it reaches for everything the city has always been capable of.
On the collaboration front he is taking his time. No major artist features yet, but as he moves gradually toward mainstream music he is open to the right opportunities. When LukeSky brings someone into his world it will make sense. That is the standard he holds everything to.
Chicago deserves the full picture
LukeSky is not making music to fit in. He is making music to expand what fitting in even means for a city like Chicago. A city that has influenced virtually every corner of American music and deserves to be seen in its full complexity rather than reduced to a trend.
He started as a ghost writer. He spent years developing. He studied the greats. He listened to what his audience needed. And now he is building a summer project with a studio partner who can help him bring the full vision to life.
